Feldpostkarte

Absender: Walter Dahms,
Reserve-Lazarett Technische Hochschule
b/ Charlottenburg

An Herrn Dr. Heinrich Schenker
Wien III
Reisnerstrasse 18 [sic]

[postmark:] || CHARLOTTENBURG | 8. 1. 16. | 8-9N | 2d ||

{verso}
[written lengthwise:]

Lieber Herr Doktor! 1

– Darf man bald opus 111 erwarten? In besonders starken Stunden lese ich in Ihren „Mus. Th. u. Phant.“ – dann ist mit einem Mal alles Elend vergessen.

Von Herzen grüsst Sie
Ihr treuergebener

Field Postcard

From: Walter Dahms,
Reserve Hospital Technical Highschool,
at Charlottenburg

To Dr. Heinrich Schenker,
Vienna III,
Reisnerstrasse 18 [sic]

[postmark:] || CHARLOTTENBURG | 8. 1. 16. | 8-9N | 2d ||

{verso}
[written lengthwise:]

Dear Dr. [Schenker]! 1

If things are also not going very well for me inside, at least I am already so far away that I can do some work daily at home and at the Royal Library. That helps me get over many things. But if only there were peace, I could make haste to see you in Vienna! (The constant sigh of one who yearns). – Can one expect Op. 111 any time soon? In particularly hard times I read your "Musical Theories and Fantasies." – then at a single stroke all misery is forgotten.

Most sincere greetings,
Your truly devoted
