Footnotes1 In a letter dated November 18, 1925, Drei Masken Verlag explain to Schenker that the galley proofs of volume I of Das Meisterwerk in der Musik will be held up by a few days, until the printing is was able to make up "letters that you have furnished with special accents"; these are, presumably, the careted numbers representing the Urlinie tones. Therefore these notes date from 1925, not 1927 (as indicated in the Oster Collection Finding List); they served the preparation of Schenker’s diary entries in the second half of November. |
