Sie ist Musikstudentin, und will auch Lehrerin werden. Leider ist sie nicht meine Schülerin, obwohl ihr dies bestimmt zum Vorteil gereichen würde. Es schien mir, als sei sie schon mal halb und halb dazu bereit gewesen, indes hat sie – so glaube ich {2} – wie die meisten „Furcht vor dem Unbekannten“. Today I am merely writing to report that a young lady, Miss Edith Sauerbrey, ² with whom I am well acquainted, left for Vienna yesterday for three weeks, and will, I hope, convey my greetings to you in person. She is a music student, and wants to become a teacher. Unfortunately she is not my pupil, although this would certainly be advantageous [for her]. It seemed to me that she had half a mind to do so, but in the meantime has become – so I believe {2} – "afraid of the unknown", like most students. Now, when she has spoken with you, perhaps she will come to the right understanding of her own accord. I hope that she is not too timid to look you up. But please tell her that she might like to give me her address in Vienna.
