1 Schenker wrote an analysis of all four movements of Op. 114, dated October 21, 1913 (OC 34/194–200), destined for his Kleine Bibliothek ; the features discussed here appear in that analysis almost word-for-word: “The harmony of bars 35–36 is enharmonically exchanged, such that the melody appears to be built into the four-note chord over F.”
