Footnotes

1 Herman Roth, ed., 25 Geistliche Lieder (aus dem Schemellischen Gesangbuch) für eine Singstimme und basso continuo (Leipzig: C. F. Peters, [n.d.]), a copy of which, with annotations in Schenker's hand, is preserved at OJ 25/1; No. 8 "Jesu, deine Liebeswunden."

2 This probably refers to a composition by Oppel. On December 4, 1913, Oppel had sent Schenker a suite for violin that he had composed, and on March 6, 1914 Schenker wrote to him with criticisms of a composition that involved piano (diary). A preliminary list of Weisse’s compositions, compiled by Timothy Jackson, can be found in the Journal of Schenkerian Studies 4 (2010), pp. 184–86.
