exist simultaneously or are successive. Schenker may have in mind the collection
that he uses with his pupils of twenty-five chorales edited by Herman Roth, and
which do indeed have a bassline with figures, melody, and one inner voice
(though with occasional extra thickening notes), as a keyboard part, and above
that the melody as soprano line with words.
