Footnotes

1 Schenker's diary gives doubly conflicting information. The entry for Monday March 15 states: "A new pupil, Miss König, introduces herself, with her mother; and the arrangement is made in the same way that I have agreed with Hupka." The diary entry for Wednesday March 17 records: "Miss König for her first lesson," whereas the lessonbook entry not only contradicts that date but also indicates that study involved continuation from some previous occasion.
