Career Summary
Alfred Reisenauer was a pupil of L. Köhler and Franz Liszt. His career as a concert pianist began in 1881, and after a brief period studying law at Leipzig University he continued his concert career, performing widely, including Siberia and China. He was a professor of piano at the Leipzig Conservatory 1900‒06. He died while on a concert tour of Russia.
Reisenauer and Schenker
Schenker heard him on February 28, 1907, and commented in his diary: "A pitiful ruin of a man, ‒ possesser of an octave glissando effect ‒ nothing further" (OJ 1/6, p. 34).
