Footnotes1 The production of Verdi's Falstaff was moving from Vienna to Berlin, so Harden evidently hoped that Schenker could provide him with a review before the opera was to appear in Berlin. Schenker's review was published as "Notizen zu Verdis Falstaff," Die Zukunft 3 (3 June 1893), 474‒76 and is reprinted in Hellmut Federhofer, Heinrich Schenker als Essayist und Kritiker (Hildesheim: Georg Olms Verlag, 1990), 44‒48. |
