Leichenbegängnis A. v. Welche Ironie! Im Trauerwagen geht Karl Kraus gewesen [sic] — ähnliche Ironie!

Funeral of Adalbert von Goldschmidt. I was at the Karlskirche, and at the cemetery ‒ what an exit, for a man who lived unostentatiously and sociably! Abandoned by friends who had enjoyed his company and took advantage of him (his spirit, as well as his money and his connections), and accompanied only by friends from his final, impoverished years! I, at one time the person he most despised, the only one at the cemetery, behind his coffin. What an irony! In the funeral carriage travels Karl Kraus — likewise, an irony!
