Footnotes1 Waldrast: presumably the pilgrimage monastery Maria Waldrast, on the Serles mountain, in the mountain range between Matrei and Fulpmes. Mieders: small town just outside Schönberg at the beginning of the Stubai Valley. Schönberg: town at the point where the Stubai Valley splits off southwest from the Wipp Valley. This was a circular route of about 22 miles (35km), the first leg ‒ presumably on foot ‒ traversing rugged terrain, followed by two valleys in which Schenker could have traveled wholly or partly by train. |
