Ich träume, daß Konzertmeister Rosé, um das Publikum für Mangel an Teilnahme an der von ihm vorgeführten modernen Komposition zu strafen, zu der barbarischen Maßregel greift, alle Zwischenpausen vorauszunehmen u. daraus eine volle Stunde Wartezeit zu condensiren, die natürlich das Publikum absitzen mußte, um sich aber den Vortrag der modernen Stücke in unmittelbar geschlossener Folge anhören zu müssen! Also eine doppelte Strafe!

I dream that concertmaster Rosé, in order to punish his audience for their lack of sympathy for the modern composition he has performed, takes the barbaric measure of taking out all the pauses between pieces and forming a full hour's waiting time, which the audience naturally had to sit through, so that they are obliged to listen to the performances of the modern pieces without a break! Thus a double punishment!

A very welcome excuse, since in this case the apparent sense of incapacity through the child {413} is something that the father who profits from this excuse reckons as altruism!! So long as these and similar traits remain characteristic of people, life must be a bitter, heavy burden.
