Either the Quartet was joined by an unnamed second violist, in which case the first work was Beethoven's Quintet in C, Op. 29; or they played a work by Beethoven on their own (presumably Op. 59, No. 2, in E minor) and were then joined by a violist to perform Brahms's Quintet in G, Op. 111. |
