Im Wagen immer noch Deutsche, ein Mädchen aus Bozen holt ihren Bräutigam aus Mailand ab u. flirtet unterwegs heftig mit jungen Italienern. Von Mailand bis Genua 3. Klasse – in Italien unmöglich, Hefe der Bevölkerung, wollen durchaus auf meinem neuen schönen Koffer Karten spielen, haben aber selbst einen, eine „Dame“ spielt auch mit.

A couple in my compartment are on their honeymoon; the husband has a lot more wits. The weather is rainy. — From Verona to Milan, another surcharge; porters are again needed to transfer my luggage to another train. In the car there are still some Germans; a young lady from Bolzano is collecting her fiancé from Milan and is eager to flirt with young Italians on the journey. From Milan to Genoa, by third class – impossible in Italy. The riff-raff definitely want to play cards on my nice new suitcase, although they have one of their own; a “lady” joins in the game.
