Footnotes ¹ The Vienna Concert Society performed Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in the large hall of the Musikverein Building at 7.30 p.m. on February 23, under the direction of Ferdinand Löwe. -- Schenker’s monograph Beethovens neunte Sinfonie had been published on July 2, 1912, and he had plans still for an authentic full score of the work.
