Footnotes1 Schenker’s diary for this day reports: “When I told Miss Elias about the strange fact that Vrieslander received 360 Kronen without any fuss from UE for his work – which doesn't really amount to much work – whereas I received only 1,200 Kronen for one that was fiendishly great and distinctive, she abruptly replied clear-sightedly: rich people would rather give out a small sum ten times rather than a large sum all at once, even if the tenfold payment of the small sum amounts to exactly the same as the large sum.” |
