Footnotes1 Schenker’s diary for this day reads: “Hans Weisse absent-mindedly barges in during Miss Elias's lesson! A poor action on the part of the boy, who could not get over the loss of a lesson and therefore seeks me out a day earlier, in order to ask me about a passage from [Brahms's] Op. 40. The action is all the worse when he himself reacts sensitively when Mrs. Colbert merely shows up for her lesson punctually. I asked him into my room, gave him no information, but accompanied him on his way, where I then gave him the information, but not without first issuing him with a sharp rebuke!” — There is no record in the lessonbook of a lesson for Toni Colbert this day. |
