Dutch virtuoso organist and pianist, for a time pupil of Karl Mikuli in Lemberg (L'viv) in Galicia (Chopin pupil with whom Schenker was later to study in the same city); he taught at the Royal Conservatory in Stuttgart from the 1890s, and served as the institution's Director 1900-08.
De Lange and Schenker
There is no known correspondence between Lange and Schenker. John Petrie Dunn, advocate of Schenker's ideas working in Scotland, was a music-theory pupil of his at the Stuttgart Conservatory.
