German writer, member of the 19th-century Young Germany movement, author of many novels and tragedies and comedies.

Gutzkow is mentioned once in Schenker's diary for August 8, 1906. Grillparzer's view of Gutzkow was unfavorable because the latter held the ideals of the Young Germany movement to be injurious to art.
