Vereh[rte]ster u. lieber Herr Prof. Halm! 1

Most revered, dear Professor Halm! 1

It occurred that my Yearbook II 2 did not arrive at a certain location. Consequently, I am asking you, as a precaution: Did you receive your copy or not? Requesting a brief word! I received your music. 3 Many, many thanks. With mailings, I monitor every parcel, as I do, by the way, with all of your compositions. Many thanks in advance

and most cordial greetings,
Yours,

Footnotes

1 Writing of this postcard is not reported in Schenker's diary. "* R *" in the postmark indicates that it was sent via Rohrpost, i.e. pneumatic (express) post.

2 Das Meisterwerk in der Musik, vol II was released in September 1927.

3 Schenker had received a packet of sheet music from Halm on November 3, recorded in his diary at OJ 4/1, p. 3129: "Von Halm neue Noten ‒ geradezu unmusikalisch!" ("New sheet music from Halm – downright unmusical"), so the identity of the compositions is unknown. On November 20 he had written postcards to Oppel, Roth and Halm asking them whether they had received Meisterwerk II. He received Halm's confirmation of this (OJ 11/35, 25) on November 26.
