Footnotes

Receipt of this postcard is recorded at OJ 4/7, p. 3945, September 17: "Von Salzer (K. expreß): Mißverständnis, kann Dienstag nicht kommen (ist für Donnerstag bestellt)." ("From Salzer (express postcard): misunderstanding; cannot come on Tuesday (is scheduled for Thursday)."). The "R" in the postmarks indicates that the postcard was sent by pneumatic post (Rohrpost).

Salzer’s telephone number, entered in Heinrich Schenker’s hand, as given in his postcard of September 15, 1934 (OC 44/37).

= OC 44/37, September 15, 1934.

Salzer must not yet have received Schenker’s postcard of September 16 (FS 40/1, [27]), telling him that a visit was not possible on either Tuesday or Wednesday (September 18–19). The date for Salzer’s visit was most likely set by telephone.
