1 Postage of this package is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 3/9, p. 3072, June 1, 1927: "Morgens zur Post: recomm. an den Verlag die Bogen 1 u. 2; ermächtige, in den Beispielen die Trennung vorzunehmen, nötigenfalls sie in den Anhang zu verweisen; die Ordnungsnummern müssen weg! Erinnere an die Erläuterungen." ("In the morning, to the Post Office: to the publisher by registered mail the first two gatherings; I authorize them to make the division in the music examples, if necessary to consign them to the appendix. The ordering numbers must be removed! I remind them of the 'Elucidations'.").

2 This remark refers to Fig. 13, Chopin’s Waltz Op. 34, No. 1, which would have been too wide to fit on a single page of Meisterwerk, and to three sets of voice-leading layers that had to be split across two pages; see OC 54/167, to which Schenker’s letter is a response.
