On May 22, Schenker noted in his diary (OJ 1/6, p. 41: "Adresse an Mahler in überlegener Laune unterfertigt; u. Situation nicht ohne Humor." ("Signed open letter to Mahler in a superior frame of mind; and the situation [is] not without its funny side.").
