Footnotes1 Receipt of this postcard is recorded in Heinrich’s diary for October 12, 1932: “Von Arnold Weil (K.): Sonntag, den 9. ist Helmut Hatschek abgestürzt – tot!!! — An Hatscheks, von Lie-Liechen aufgesetzt.” (“From Arnold Weil (postcard): on Sunday the 9th, Helmut Hatschek collapsed – dead!!! — To the Hatscheks, drafted by Lie-Liechen.”). — Hellmuth was Klara and Oskar Hatschek’s only child, and the accident caused Klara’s descent into dementia over the next seven years. |
