⇧ Liebe Li-Li und lieber Heinrich! 1

⇧ Da sich Claras Befinden nicht besserte, wurde Freita Donnerstag, den 17. ds. M., Nervenarzt Dr. Voltär zugezogen, der die Absicht hatte zuhause eine Behandlung durchzufürhren. Freitag abends erklärte Clara selbst, wahnsinnig zu sein & in ein Anstalt zu wollen. Gestern, Samstag, brachte sie Oscar in Trudes Begleitung ins Sanatorium Veleslavin bei Prag (Tel. 74.033.)[.]

Ich glaube, daß es bald gut sein wird. Ob man ihr schreiben soll, weiß ich nicht.

⇧ Since Clara‘s condition has not improved, on Friday Thursday the 17th, nerve Dr. Voltär was summoned, and he was of the opinion that the consultation should take place at home. On Friday evening Clara declared herself insane, and wished to go into an institution. Yesterday, Saturday, Oscar, accompanied by Trude, took her to Sanatorium Veleslavín in Prague (tel. 74.033).

I believe that all will be well soon. I don’t know whether people should write to her.

1 Receipt of this letter is recorded in Heinrich’s diary for November 21, 1932: “Von Weil (Br.): die arme Klara mußte in ein Sanatorium gebracht werden! Entsetzliche Wege des Schicksals!” (“From Weil (letter): poor Klara had to be taken to a sanatorium! Dreadful paths of fate!”). — Previously, on October 12, 1932, the diary had recorded: “Von Arnold Weil (K.): Sonntag, den 9. ist Helmut Hatschek abgestürzt – tot!!! — An Hatscheks, von Lie-Liechen aufgesetzt.” (“From Arnold Weil (postcard): on Sunday the 9th, Helmut Hatschek collapsed – dead!!! To the Hatscheks, drafted by Lie-Liechen.”).

2 Heinrich’s diary records for October 13 and 15: “Lie-Liechen schreibt an Klara u. an Arnold Weil. [—] Ich schreibe an Klara u. Arnold an!” (“Lie-Lie writes to Klara and to Arnold Weil. [—] I add a few lines to [Jeanette’s letters to] Klara and Arnold!”).
