⇧ Mein lieber Wilhelm! 1

Nun haben wir auch unser[en] Schlosser erwischt u. befragt. Augenblicklich ist in dieser Schlosserei kein Platz frei, aber er versprach, sich umzutun u. mir vorkommendenfalls sofort Nachricht zu geben. Wir wollen nach Möglichkeit noch weiter fragen. Vielleicht bringt die Besserung der wirtschaftlichen Konjunktur, von der jetzt soviel die Rede ist, eine Gelegenheit auch für den l. Tonerl. 2 –

Wir sind schon „feste“ bei der Arbeit.

⇧ My dear Wilhelm, 1

We now finally got hold of our locksmith and questioned him. At the moment, there is no opening in that locksmith’s shop, but he promised to do some checking and to notify me right away if something comes up. We intend to inquire further as far as possible. Perhaps the improvement in the economy, about which there is currently so much talk, will bring an opportunity for Tonerl. 2

We are already “solidly” at work.
