1 Writing of this postcard is not recorded in Schenker's diary (OJ 2/14, p. 2037). Nor is any correspondence from Violin recorded in the previous few days, though a postcard received from him on February 4, speaking of a health problem, "announces an evening visit." The "* R *" in the postmark indicates that the card was sent by pneumatic post (Rohrpost).
