Schwere Wolken künden ein Gewitter an u. wir wünschen ein ausgiebiges Naß zur Löschung des Brandes – das Gewitter kommt dann auch mit allem Rüstzeug daher, sogar mit Hagel großen Formats, es tobt bis ½5^h: auf der Straße ziehen Bäche dahin, noch um 6^h ist auf dem Gorfen Hagelweiß zu sehen, der Jambach ist angeschwollen u. lehmgelb u. trotz so viel Naß brennt der Baum im Wald weiter! Unser Auto läuft pünktlich um ¾5^h ein. — Zwischen 6–7^h in Regenmänteln abwärts, der Regen ist schmächtiger geworden. — Lie-Liechen zeigt mir unterwegs die soeben gemolkene Ziegenmilch – sie starrt von Schmutzt [sic] ! — Von der U.-E. Dark clouds announce a thunderstorm, and we hope for a thorough watering to put out the fire – the storm then comes fully armed, even with large hailstones, and rages until 4:30: on the street, streams run past, even as late as 6 o'clock it is white from hail on the Gorfen; the Jam Brook is swollen and clayey-yellow, and in spite of so much wetness the tree in the forest continues to burn! Our automobile arrives promptly at 4:45. — Between 6 and 7, in raincoats down the hill; the rain has eased up. — On the way, Lie-Liechen shows me the milk from the goat that has just been milked – it is covered in filth! — From UE (letter= OC 52/878 = OC 52/900): statement of 162.26 shillings. — In the evening, a welcome cooling down.
