Lie-Liechen gibt Thee mit schönen Brötchen u. Obstsalat mit Gebäck. Gespräch über Messias, Smetana, Dwořak, Rimsky-Korsakov, Cäsar Frank (ich empfehle Scheherezade, Bläserserenade, Tänze von Josef Strauß u. Lanner); dann über den Choral (Isaac, das Blatt von Salzer ad oculos u. Abbé Vogler, Riemann usw.), über den continuo zur Albinoni-Sonate; über Brahms‘ Quintenstudie. — Bis 2h auf!!

— From the pension institute, second payment: 284.75 shillings. — Reading of Messiah finished. 1 — At midday, from Furtwängler (express letter): could he come at 9:30 in the evening!?! — To Furtwängler (express lettercard): please! — Furtwängler from 9 o’clock until 1! Lie-Liechen provides tea with lovely rolls, and fruit salad with cookies. Conversation about Messiah , Smetana, Dvořák, Rimsky-Korsakov, César Franck (I recommend Sheherezade, the Wind Serenade [by Dvořák], dances by Josef Strauß and Lanner); then concerning the chorale (Isaac, Salzer’s page (visually), and Abbé Vogler, Riemann etc.); concerning the continuo part for the sonata by Albinoni; concerning Brahms’s study of parallel fifths. — Awake until 2 o’clock in the morning!!
