— Scrubbing in the study. — In the alcove, work on p. 67 [of the fourth notebook for Free Composition ]! — At 12 o’clock, I hear a composition by Rosner! 1 — To UE (letter): I ask them for more pointed ^ symbols, and ask about the corrections to the sonatas. — To Furtwängler (letter): 2 I ask him to intercede on behalf of Wolf. — Letter to Rosner not dispatched, now sent off. — After teatime, errands, and in the Botanical Garden. — Lie-Liechen invites Miss Violin for lunch on Sunday. — To Mrs. Rothberger, by telephone: Karl will begin on October 1.

1 According to the radio listings in the Neue freie Presse, this was the première of Karl Rosner’s Harlekinade for violin and orchestra. Josef Holzer conducted the radio orchestra of the Vienna Symphony, with Rosner as soloist.

2 This letter, written because Wolf was refused entry into Austria (see diary entry for September 25), is not known to survive.
