Telephonisch bestelle ich den Koffer: um 3^h (maniana?) — Ich gehe aus, um eine Jause zu nehmen: 2 große Tassen Chokolade, Kakes, Brot, sogar ein Stückchen Käse darauf, Butter, Marmelade u. Trinkgeld: = 60 Groschen!!! — Ich finde mich in der Stadt schon gut zurecht – um ½6^h zurück. Trete zur Balkontür u. bin wie geblendet vom schönsten Cordillera-Glühen: der Himmel wolkenlos, blau, – vor dem Hause gegenüber Pal- {28} men, da darf das Essen auch schlecht sein! Heute, nach langer Zeit, ein anständiges Bad – feinfein! —

I telephone to get my suitcase: at 3 o’clock (mañana?). — I go out for an afternoon snack: 2 large cups of hot chocolate, cakes, bread, even with a small piece of cheese on it, butter, jam, and tip: 60 groschen!!! — I find my way around the city easily: back at 5:30. I walk to the balcony door and am nearly blinded by the most beautiful glow of the Cordillera: the sky is cloudless, blue. Palm trees in front of the house opposite; {28} so it will be all right even if the food is bad! Today, for the first time in a long time, a proper bed: very good! —
