Footnotes
1 This
entry is followed by an entry dated January 18 (“Correktur: 7. Bogen
abgeschlossen.” – “Proof corrections: gathering 7 finished off.”), which does
not appear in Schenker’s diary, but has been added to it editorially at January
18.
2 Schenker countersigned each day’s entry (having checked, corrected
and annotated it) for the first four days, and thereafter less frequently, in
the form “HSch+” or “HS+”, in the latter case the “S” looped below the “H” and
the cross attached to it. There are ten such signatures between January 15 and
February 18, after which the countersignatures ceased. Of the ten, only three
occur adjacent to lesson notes (as apart from diary drafts).
