December 12, [1912] Newlov † : Concerto: 1 a working-through of the first movement, such that the first theme in the first section of the reprise was compared; similarly the modulatory section of the second and third theme. Hence a sort of synoptic study with a view to a simplified assimilation of the differences. Footnotes1 It is not possible, on the basis of the lessonbook, to determine which concerto this is, though Newlov’s lesson notes for December 5 suggest that it, too, is by Beethoven; however, this note makes a comparison with the “Emperor” concerto, thereby excluding the latter. |
