Documents associated with this entity:
Art gallery located in the third district (Landstraße) of Vienna.
The Moderne Galerie was opened in 1903 at the urging of numerous contemporary Viennese artists, such as Carl Moll, in the Orangerie of the Unteres Belvedere (Lower Belvedere), its address being Vienna III, Rennweg 6 (close to several of Schenker's apartments). In 1909 the gallery was renamed kaiserlich-königliche Österreichische Staatsgalerie and the scope of its collection expanded to include all periods of Austrian art. After the end of World War I its name changed to Österreichische Galerie Belvedere.
