Hausegger's career as a conductor began in Munich in 1899, continuing in Frankfurt (1903-06), Hamburg and Berlin (1910-). In 1920, he was appointed Director, later President, of the Akademie der Tonkunst in Munich, and in 1925 became the President of the Allgemeiner Deutscher Musikverein. Hausegger was also a composer of operas, orchestral works and vocal music.
