Alfred Weissberger concurs with Schenker as to the lower value now placed on ability and knowledge, though he thinks the younger generation see the arts as a means of obtaining a livelihood; he will sound out the viability of a Beethoven course for the following year, and leaves open the possibility of approaching Schenker again.
