CA 125 - Handwritten letter from Schenker to Cotta, dated September 15, 1910
3 © Transcription Ian Bent, 2019 |
As I sent my last letter off to you, 2 my packages were still in transit, and I need therefore today to correct the page-count, which I gave incorrectly there. I should like specifically to ask you to read the "Foreword" to vol. II/1 as far as p. XXIII (!), and to take the situation given there into account. 3 © Translation Ian Bent, 2019 |

Footnotes1 Writing of this letter is not recorded in Schenker's diary. 2 His last letter was presumably CA 121-122, September 10, in which he set out his ideas for the Handbibliothek, acknowledged in OJ 12/27, [12], September 14. 3 Pp. VII‒XXIII (transl. pp. xvii‒xxv) contain an outspoken polemic against what Schenker regarded as the deplorable state of contemporary music theory, teaching, and technique. |
