¹ Receipt of this telegram is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 1/5, p. 25, November 3, 1906: "Zwei Telegr. von Cotta wegen Bg. 28, 29 u. Titelbogen." ("Two telegrams from Cotta concerning gatherings 28 and 29 and the prelims gathering."). Written above the text, in crayon, then deleted is „544 / 614“, and below in pencil "3/11/06", both in hands unknown and unrelated to the main hand. The telegram document itself does not appear to survive among Schenker's papers.

² Gathering 28 = pp. 433-448 of published volume, which according to the postscript to CA 49 Schenker sent to Cotta on October 26 along with gathering 29 and the manuscript of the Table of Contents.
