The entire set of proofs was made available to us by Waldheim today. For Waldheim to paste the music examples into the copies would have taken at least a further two days; therefore Waldheim decided to print the engraved plates separately. It will doubtless be possible, nonetheless, to correct the music examples in this way. We ask you to return to us a copy of the text and the music and, so that we may check the music examples, to number them continuously through all the galleys, and, likewise, to indicate the corresponding numbers on the copies [of the examples].

The page make-up of the first galleys will not be done until Wednesday, because the plates of the music examples will not be finished by Waldheim until tomorrow. Here, too, you will receive two copies.
