Footnotes1 Receipt of this postcard is recorded in Schenker’s diary for May 18, 1932: “Von Deutsch (K.): kommt gern ins Café Aspang.” (“From Deutsch (postcard): he would very much like to come to the Café Aspang.”). 2 According to his diary entry of May 11, Schenker wrote a letter (not a postcard) to Deutsch to say that he was not sufficiently informed “to interfere in matters of ‘love’”; this refers to Deutsch’s request (OJ 10/3, [168], May 9, 1932) that Schenker might dissuade Hoboken from marrying his fiancée. 3 “H.-Gezeiten”: Deutsch’s metaphorical description of Hoboken’s movement between Vienna and Munich. In OJ 11/54, [39], May 12, 1932, Hoboken informed Schenker that he had just arrived in Vienna for several days, and would visit Schenker. 4 Schenker’s diary for May 25, 1932 records: “Von 5–½8h mit Deutsch im Café Aspang.” (“From 5 to 7:30, with Deutsch at the Café Aspang.”). |
