April 34 Lieber Verehrter! 1 Hoffentlich kann ich morgen mittags telefonisch eine Zusammenkunft für die nächsten Tage verabreden. Ich bin etwas bedrängt und fahre Donnerstag auf mehr als zwei Wochen ab. Dringend und also auch telefonisch möchte ich Sie um einen Rat bitten. Kann man die Art von Klavierauszügen mit Angabe einzelner Instrumente der in seinem Kopf schon sichtbaren Partitur: Klavier-Partizell nennen? 2 Und ebenso die unausgeschriebenen Partitur-Skizzen (Entwürfe) mit ganzem System, aber nur mit ausgeschriebener führender und begleitender Stimme: Partiturskelett? 3 Ihre Meinung ist mir sehr wichtig und nötig. © Transcription William Drabkin, 2023 |

I am somewhat pressed for time and will be away from Thursday for more than two weeks. I would also like to ask you for advice urgently, and thus again by telephone. Can one call the type of piano reduction, with indications of the individual instruments of the score that is already visible in one’s head, a “piano particelle”? 2 And likewise, the incompletely written out score-sketches (drafts) with a full instrumental system but only with the leading and accompanying parts written out: a “skeletal score”? 3 Your opinion is very important to me, and necessary. © Translation William Drabkin, 2023 |
