mir scheint, Sie sind bös auf mich! War ich gestern zu hastig? Sie haben mich jedenfalls gänzlich misverstanden. Ich wollte nicht Ihren Standpunkt als Kritiker wissen, sondern als Selbst-Schaffender. Und dabei hat es sich mir vielweniger um Sie, als um [?Grund] und Braun 2 gehandelt. Denn von Ihnen habe ich ja im Vorhinein einen weiten Gesichtskreis erwartet. Und mein Zweck: auf Grund dieser klaren Meinungsverschiedenheiten einen freien Vertrag zu schließen. Also: einigen wollte ich; nicht trennen. Das müssen Sie doch zugeben! In any case, you have completely misunderstood me. I didn’t want to know your attitude as a critic but as a creative artist. And in my case it has much less to do with you than with [?Grund] and Braun. 2 Because, from you, in advance, I expected a wide mental horizon. My aim: because of this clear difference of opinion, to settle on an open contract. Thus, I sought to unite, not separate. You must concede that! The document from which this edition was made is a photocopy; the whereabouts of the original is not known. An annotation at the foot of the photocopy in another hand (that of Oswald Jonas?) reads "19034 — corrected to 1904 by O.
