Footnotes1 The document from which this edition was made is a photocopy; the whereabouts of the original is not known. Schoenberg had been providing music at Wolzogen's Buntes Theater, for its cabaret "Überbrettl," of which Violin was the music director, since December 1901 2 Lina Abarbanell (born Berlin, Jan 3, 1879; died New York City, Jan 6, 1963), operetta singer. Her father, Paul Abarbanell, was a leading theater conductor in Berlin, and she made her debut with the Berlin Court Opera at the age of seven. Her papers are preserved in the New York Public Library. 3 Possibly the conductor Hans Rohr (died Krakow, 1942), who directed the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra for two years during the German occupation of Poland. |
