Albersheim Ihren frdl. Bescheid unverzüglich mitgeteilt habe. Bei dieser Gelegenheit erinnere ich Sie an Ihre Zusage (in den Briefen vom 15. 1 3 u. 21. 6. 29 4 ) sich Anfang 1930 über die „Eroica“ zu äußern. Ich wiederhole: im Text, der klein ist, ist keinerlei Unterbrechung durch Notenbeispiele; die Figuren sind besonders {2} gesammelt, ebenso die Urlinieblätter, wodurch sowohl die Darstellung als Drucklegung vereinfacht sind. © Transcription Ian Bent, 2012 |

Albersheim immediately of your kind answer. I take this opportunity to remind you of your promise (in your letters of January 15 3 and June 21, 1929 4 ) to declare yourself at the beginning of 1930 on the "Eroica" [monograph] . I repeat: in the text, which is short, there is absolutely no breaking up through music examples; the figures are specially {2} assembled together, likewise the Urlinie sheets, such that both the presentation and the printing are simplified. © Translation Ian Bent, 2012 |

Footnotes1 Writing of this letter is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 4/3, p. 3426, December 28, 1929: "An Hertzka (Br.): habe Albersheim benachrichtigt; erinnere an die Zusage, sich Anfang Januar zur Eroica-Herausgabe äußern." ("To Hertzka (letter): I have informed Albersheim; I issue a reminder of his promise to declare himself at the beginning of January regarding the Eroica edition."). 2 = OC 52/857; WSLB 418/1. 3 = OC 52/849. 4 = OC 52/850.
