© Transcription Ian Bent, 2006, 2016 |

[All in a decorative rule-frame] [From:] ⇧ [H.] Schenker [Vienna] [III,] Reisnerstraße 38 [To:] Director Emil Hertzka [Vienna] I, Wipplingerstraße 32 Universal Edition [four postmarks, only one completely legible:] [postmark:] || VIENNA 1/1 | 22.XII.09 9-11 | *C.R.* n || [postmark:] || VIENNA [illeg] || [postmark:] || [illeg] | 22.XII [illeg] || [postmark:] || [illeg] || [For continuation of recto see below] {verso} ⇧ Dear Director, 1 Yes indeed: now it is possible. 2 I will gladly make use of the lesson-time 11 a.m.‒12 noon tomorrow, vacant because a female student [of mine] is away, to pay you a flying visit. However ‒ [let me say] in advance ‒ not a word of criticism, for, to speak quite frankly, I feel myself more competent on this point front than your advisers, and have at any rate made a better job [of it] than UE's other contributors, such as Pugno, Röntgen, Door, etc., [and] Busoni, who were not criticized. Purely technical questions {recto} to do with printing I do not at all rule out, as you will tell from the readiness with which I am following up your latest invitation. © Translation Ian Bent, 2006, 2016 |
