Frau zusammen, erfahren Lebensumstände, Verhältnisse der Personen u. der Kunst in München; sprechen auch über Zionismus, Verleger usw. Er bestätigt den Aufschwung meines Namens, den ich in solchem Ausmaß anzunehmen nicht gewagt hätte – ich wüßte sonst nicht wie es kommt, daß nicht eine noch höhere Brandung bis zu mir in die Keilgasse rollt! Curtius an u. erzählt, er habe mich über Furtwänglers Empfehlung seinerzeit für die Professur in Heidelberg vorgeschlagen, der Referent im Ministerium konnte sich aber nicht dazu entschließen, weil er Gründe hatte, von einem Oesterreicher abzusehen. — Nach Tisch an Furtwängler (Br.): Dank u. Einladung für die künftige Saison. — An Baumgarten (Ansichtsk.): Dank für die liebe Gesinnung; vielleicht führen wir op. 97 ² einmal bei uns auf? He confirms the ascendancy of my name, to such an extent that I would not have dared to suppose – I would not know why it is that an even greater surge does not well up to me in the Keilgasse! Home at 11 o'clock. — In the entrance hall, Prof. Dr. Curtius speaks to us, saying that, at the time, on the strength of Furtwängler's recommendation, he recommended me for the professorship at Heidelberg; but the adviser in the Ministry could not agree to this, since he had grounds for disregarding an Austrian candidate. — After lunch, to Furtwängler (letter): thanks, and invitation for the coming year. — To Baumgarten (picture postcard): thanks for the kind thoughts; perhaps we shall perform Op. 97 ² some time at home?
