Post nichts. —

Nothing at the post office. — I buy paper for my travel diary and enquire about Waldheim pills 1 in a German pharmacy. The proprietor says that Chilean women will take anything they can get their hands on if only it would make them slender. Things have gone so far that these measures had to be forbidden. (They are solidified compounds – but he offers them to me, businessman that he is!). I buy a bar of soap and see also Pears Soap, but under a different label; it costs $15 = 3 shillings; in Vienna I pay 1 shilling. I tell him about the M&M business! — I encounter Mr. Götz – he seems to me somehow embarrassed – then he follows me and speaks to me once again. — I write the long-delayed letter to Professor Violin. —
