Austrian pianist and composer.
Pembaur studied with Rheinberger and Thuille at the Akademie der Tonkunst in Munich, after which he pursued a successful career as a concert pianist until shortly before his death. He taught piano at the Leipzig Conservatory (professor from 1912), then was professor and head of the Piano Masterclass at the Akademie der Tonkunst in Munich from 1921 to 1948 . His books are Von der Poesie des Klavier-Spiels (Cologne: Tischer & Jagenberg, 4/1917) and Über L van Beethovens Sonaten op. 31, 2 und op. 57 (ibid, 1915).
There is no known correspondence between Pembaur and Schenker.
