Fritz Wahle, who was probably at the receiving end of some witticisms of Schenker’s during a drinking session after a concert featuring a keyboard concerto by C. P. E. Bach, heaps praise on Schenker for having brought the work to life, and for having performed the piece so well – with his own cadenzas.
