Footnotes

1 The Schenkers spent the summer in Igls only once, in 1932, departing June 15, overnighting in Salzburg, and arriving Igls June 16. Receipt of this incomplete letter is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 4/5, p. 3740, June 18, 1932: "Von Frl. Elias (Br.): gratulirt u. dankt." ("From Miss Elias (letter): He congratulates and thanks [me]."). There is little doubt that the first page of the letter would have congratulated Schenker on his 65th birthday.
— Only the last page of the letter is known to survive. On the reverse side of the letter are some jottings (also crossed out), which the OC Finding List calls "Notes concerning 3-part song form," and which continue on the next eight sheets, on 2-part and 3-part song form, all on the backs of letters and unidentified text.
